Hanukkah Fire Truck Parade @ Washingtonian Woods!

Hello Neighbors,

Annual Hanukkah Fire Truck Parade
The annual Hanukkah firetruck parade is scheduled for Monday, December 23 of this year. The truck will make a stop at the Washingtonian Woods clubhouse at approximately 7:15pm.

The Washingtonian Woods Social Committee invites neighbors of all ages to join us for a Hanukkah celebration, starting at 6:30 PM, at the lower level clubhouse before the firetruck arrives. We will have games to play, hot chocolate and dessert!

Hope to see you all there for this always festive event!

Clubhouse Parking Lot Resurfacing | Mon & Tues

Hello Neighbors,

Several of you may notice that the clubhouse parking lot will be getting repaired and resurfaced over the next several days. Especially, those that frequent the pool.

While the summer season timing may not be ideal, the repairs are necessary and will be completed in a timely manner. The Board has taken steps to ensure that the repairs be completed with the least disruption as possible — the repairs should not affect Saturday’s swim meet, Saturday’s pool party, or any Clubhouse rentals next week.

Here is the project schedule:
Light repair work will start on Friday, June 15th as several spots and pot holes are filled in. On Monday and Tuesday of next week, June 18th and 19th, the lot will be getting resealed and new line stripes. During those two days, no cars will be allowed in the parking lot, and all residents are encouraged to walk or bike to the pool; or, if driving, to park along Midsummer Drive.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you,
Glenn Watts

Small Cell Facilities – Call to Action
From the inGaithersburg Weekly Newsletter:
“Public testimony will be heard by the Finance Committee for Senate Bill 1188 on Tuesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. in the Miller Senate Office Building at 11 Bladen Street in Annapolis. As written, the bill represents a coordinated, national effort by the telecommunications industry to prevent public input and limit local government authority over the installation of small cell equipment and poles in the public right of way.

The City strongly opposes this legislation and is working to protect its residents’ voices regarding installation decisions to ensure that they work for the community, protect our neighborhoods and allow local government oversight. The City urges residents to contact committee members to express opposition. Download the letter template here and find more information here.”

Gaithersburg City Council Member, and Washingtonian Woods resident, Ryan Spiegel, has also posted about this topic recently in the Washingtonian Woods neighborhood private Facebook page. Feel free to log on and check it out.

Washingtonian Woods Annual Park Cleanup
Join the Muddy Branch Alliance in the annual cleanup on Saturday, April 14th from 9am – 12 pm. The Muddy Branch Alliance. a local non-profit watershed group, is helping the City of Gaithersburg with this clean-up as part of a larger clean-up of the Potomac River.

Participants will meet in the Washingtonian Woods Park (314 Upshire Circle) at 9:00 am, collect pickup sticks supplied by the City of Gaithersburg and bags supplied by the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Volunteers will head to various areas in the neighborhood and park that are in need of trash pickup.

2017-2018 Neighborhood Directory

Hello Neighbors,

We are in the final stages of preparing the 2017-2018 edition of our Community Directory.  The directory will be printed and distributed in August 2017, and will once again be produced by AtoZ Directories.

RESIDENT INFORMATION UPDATES
We also ask that all residents log into their AtoZ Online Directory accounts and update their contact information to their liking.  All account updates made prior to Wednesday, August 2nd will be incorporated into the printed version of the 2017-2018 Directory.

To login to your Online Directory account, please go to this link:
https://atozdirectories.com/home/login.php

If you don’t remember your login, you may click on the “Forgot Password” link on the login page above.  For those residents who have not yet received a login, you may request one by sending an email to [email protected].  Please include your name and home street address in your login request.

DEADLINE FOR ADVERTISERS, 7/28/17
The directory is produced at no-cost to the Association, but rather is completely funded by advertising.  That said, we have asked that AtoZ Directories give our own residents the first chance to advertise, before they begin selling ad placements to businesses outside the neighborhood.

If you are interested in promoting your business to your neighbors in this year’s directory, please feel free to download, complete and return the below form directly to AtoZ Directories by Friday 7/28/17 — following the directions provided. Any advertising questions can be directed to Dianne Cowie at 301-310-6048 or [email protected].

2017 ADVERTISING AGREEMENT (download .pdf)

We will also be sending another reminder email to all user accounts within the A2Z system in the coming week or so.  Please keep an eye out for it.

Those residents interested in hosting a party at the pool may be required to complete a Private Pool Use Agreement.  A group of six (6) or more would be considered a party according to the pool regulations, and the Private Pool Use Agreement would need to be completed following the instructions on the Agreement.  Groups in excess of seventy five (75) persons (children and/or adults) would be addressed on a case by case basis.

The Private Pool Use Agreement should used for any party at the pool, regardless of the time.  It is is highly encouraged that members who plan on having a party contact PMP fourteen (14) days prior to the party.
