Invitation for Public Participation in Water Quality Advisory Group

This email announces an opportunity to apply to serve on Montgomery County’s Water Quality Advisory Group, which will take on a new role this year in light of the recent per- and polyfluoroalkyl contamination (PFAS) identified in a small stream near Great Seneca Highway.

The advisory group has traditionally focused on the County’s overall water quality priorities; however, they will also begin to advise on the response to PFAS contamination found near Great Seneca Highway. We wanted to make sure all those who have subscribed for updates on the PFAS contamination are made aware of this opportunity to get involved.

The Water Quality Advisory Group may review PFAS‑related monitoring data and emerging research, recommend public outreach approaches, advise on best practices for remediation and long‑term management, suggest policy or program improvements, and help anticipate emerging risks and opportunities affecting watershed health.

Anyone in the public is welcome to apply to serve on the advisory group. Applicants of diverse backgrounds, professions, genders, geography, abilities, ethnicities, and ages are encouraged to apply.
